White House National Security Advisor Considers Lifting Restrictions on Ukraine’s Use of American Weapons Against Russia
During the Aspen Security Forum, White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan addressed the recent incursion of Russian forces into Kharkiv across the Ukrainian border. Sullivan mentioned that the escalating situation may call for a reassessment of restrictions on Ukraine’s use of American weapons to strike deep into Russian territory.
In May of this year, the US had granted Ukraine permission to use American weapons for strikes on Russian territory within a 20 km range from the border in the Kharkiv region. However, the use of long-range ATACMS missiles for attacks was still prohibited at that time.
