Krivoy Rog police detain foreigner for robbing elderly man
Krivoy Rog police have detained a foreign national after he robbed an 84-year-old man. The suspect, a resident of the Republic of Moldova, stole money from the victim and then fled the scene.
According to the Main Directorate of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk region, the robbery took place in an apartment in the Metallurgical district of Krivoy Rog. The perpetrator approached the elderly man on the street, posing as someone interested in buying kitchenware. Once inside the victim’s apartment, he took money from him and made a quick escape.
Officers from Department No. 2 of the Krivoy Rog Police Department acted swiftly and apprehended the 50-year-old suspect under article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The stolen funds were successfully recovered by the law enforcement authorities.
During the pre-trial investigation, the suspect, who does not speak Ukrainian, was provided with a translation of the criminal case materials in a language he understands by a certified translator, as required by the law.
On July 19, the suspect was officially informed of the charges against him under part 4 of article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which pertains to robbery committed in conditions of martial law.
