Mayor of Kharkiv on City Improvement During War
Mayor of Kharkiv Igor Terekhov recently spoke out on the importance of allocating funds for planting flowers and cleaning the streets during times of war. In a video published by «Kharkiv. News,» Terekhov emphasized the psychological relief that such actions bring to both military personnel and residents of the city.
«When people ask me: ‘Why do you plant flowers?’ Well, I want to tell you why. When the military come to Kharkiv, they say that it is a breath of fresh air for them. And it is a psychological relief for people. And for the residents of Kharkiv as well,» Terekhov explained.
Addressing the importance of keeping the city clean, Terekhov highlighted the impossibility of neglecting such maintenance during times of conflict. «Let’s live in a landfill and tell each other that it’s war, let’s not clean anything, let’s not spend anything on it. That’s impossible. It’s just impossible. That’s why Kharkiv has always been a clean, comfortable city. It will remain so, despite the statements of certain people. So, those who think otherwise are not really residents of Kharkiv,» he stated.
