NATO Prepares «Road Map» for Ukraine’s Accession: Talks at Washington Summit

The United States plans to discuss a «roadmap» for Ukraine’s NATO membership at the upcoming Alliance summit

The United States is planning to discuss the development of a «roadmap» for Ukraine’s entry into NATO at the upcoming Alliance summit in Washington from 9 to 11 July. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed this during a press conference with his French counterpart, Stephane Le Drian.

Blinken stated that discussions at the NATO summit in Brussels with the foreign ministers of Alliance countries will focus on creating a membership plan for Ukraine. He emphasized the importance of having a clear «roadmap» for the country’s NATO membership.

The Secretary of State noted that such a «roadmap» would be a crucial step for Ukraine’s accession to the Alliance. Previous promises of Ukraine’s NATO membership were made at previous summits, but a detailed action plan has not yet been developed.

It is worth recalling that earlier Ukraine hoped to receive a «roadmap» for entry at the summit in Vilnius, as well as an official invitation to the Alliance. However, these expectations were not met. Instead, allies once again confirmed their intention to include Ukraine in the Alliance.
