Putin Threatens Nuclear War in Address to Russian Federation’s Federal Assembly

Putin promised to «soon demonstrate in practice» the Sarmat missile complexes and stated that the strategic nuclear forces «are in full readiness».

Allies should continue to support Ukraine. Latvian President Egils Levits commented on Vladimir Putin’s threats to world peace by using nuclear weapons, urging countries to not succumb to blackmail and to double efforts to arm Ukraine and strengthen defense.

During his speech, Putin threatened «tragic consequences» to countries sending troops to Ukraine. The EU called nuclear threats «absolutely unacceptable and inappropriate».
