Kharkiv and surrounding region face power outages due to Russian attacks

Power Outages Introduced in Kharkiv Region Due to Russian Attacks

Head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration Oleg Synegubov announced that due to Russian attacks on energy facilities in Kharkiv and the region, power outages have been introduced. Currently, mainly one household is without electricity for about four hours, but in some areas it is even longer. He revealed this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

«On that day (March 22 — UNIAN), we witnessed the most massive attack on the energy infrastructure, on the region, on the city of Kharkiv: we received 22 missiles of the S-300, Iskander, «X-» types,» Synegubov said.

According to him, the enterprises in the region that generate electricity have suffered serious damage as a result of the Russian shelling. He also noted that the occupiers even targeted the networks through which theoretically energy assistance could be received from neighboring regions. The official added that in Kharkiv itself, the deficit ranges from 100 to 200 megawatts of electricity.

«We practically lack this. We are forced to use disconnections for the local population so that critical infrastructure, transportation infrastructure, and others work. On average, one household is without electricity for about 4 hours, possibly even longer in some areas,» emphasized the Head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration.

Meanwhile, Synegubov did not specify the exact terms and possibilities for restoring electricity.

«As for the prospects, we are quite cautious with the deadlines here, so as not to inform the enemy on the one hand, and on the other hand, we always say that people will learn about the improvements that will take place with us,» he explained.

According to him, the situation with electricity in the region is currently complex but already stable. The official added that the restoration efforts will continue in the future.
