The State budget of Ukraine enriched by $118 million thanks to Japan’s assistance
The State budget of Ukraine has been enriched by $118 million thanks to the unconditional assistance from the government of Japan. These funds were provided within the framework of the World Bank projects «Strengthening the healthcare system and saving lives» (HEAL Ukraine) and «Housing repair for restoring the rights and opportunities of people» (HOPE). This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.
According to the press service, these funds will help the government to expand access to medical services and carry out the restoration of Ukraine’s housing infrastructure, overcoming the consequences of Russian armed aggression.
Within the HEAL and HOPE projects, Ukraine received grant funding in the amount of $70 million and $48.2 million, respectively. These funds will be used to offset the state budget costs related to housing repairs and expansion of medical services.
According to the Ministry of Finance, Ukraine has received $10.6 billion in funding from international partners since the beginning of 2024, with Japan being one of the main donors. In total, Japan has provided Ukraine with $1.470 billion in the form of grants and loans. Japan’s Deputy Finance Minister Masato Kandi stated that Tokyo will continue to provide timely budgetary support to Ukraine.
