The Ukrainian government has made a decision to restrict the supply of sugar and poultry meat to the European Union. The changes were made to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine «On approval of the lists of goods, the export and import of which are subject to licensing, and quotas for 2024».
Restrictions on Sugar Export to EU
According to this decision, a quota of 0 tons has been set for the export of sugar to the EU. The reason for this restriction is the necessity to comply with the conditions of exporting goods to the customs territory of the EU member states, as provided for in the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.
These changes were the result of a request from the National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine «Ukrsugar» to the government to urgently establish a zero export quota for sugar to the EU for the year 2024.
