European Union and Japan plan joint development of advanced materials for alternative energy and electric transport

The European Union and Japan Partner for Advanced Materials Development

The European Union and Japan are teaming up to collaborate on the development of new materials in the fields of alternative energy and electric transport. According to Nikkei Asia, this joint initiative, dubbed the «Dialogue on Advanced Materials,» involves close cooperation between scientific research institutes from both regions to drive the advancement of new technologies.

The primary objective of this partnership is to enhance the sovereignty of the European Union and Japan in the realm of materials science, particularly by decreasing reliance on rare-earth element imports from China. The plan includes the development of sodium-ion batteries, boosting the efficiency of solar panels, and facilitating the shift towards renewable energy sources.

Anticipated outcomes of this collaboration include the creation of new opportunities for steel development and the introduction of eco-friendly technologies to the market, ultimately paving the way for a more sustainable future.
