Doctors Without Borders suspends operations in Donetsk region

The organization

«Doctors Without Borders»

has announced the suspension of their activities in Donetsk region due to an attack on their office in Pokrovsk. This was reported on the organization’s official website.

The

attack

on the office occurred on April 5th at around 3:15 am. The building was completely destroyed, five people were injured, including the organization’s security guard. The office of

«Doctors Without Borders»

in Pokrovsk also served as a pharmacy and a logistics center for equipment and vehicles.

As a result,

«Doctors Without Borders»

are forced to temporarily suspend their medical humanitarian activities in Donetsk region, except for providing urgent and rapid assistance.

The organization

«Doctors Without Borders»

has been providing medical assistance in Donetsk since 2015. With the escalation of military actions, the organization’s projects expanded to provide assistance in areas close to the front line. The Ministry of Health of Ukraine relies on

«Doctors Without Borders»

to conduct medical evacuations, using the organization’s fleet of 15 rapid response vehicles in Donetsk region and other regions in case of mass casualties after shelling.

continue to provide life-saving medical assistance in various regions of Ukraine, including in Kherson, Cherkasy, and Vinnytsia regions.
