One of the factors that influenced the condition of the Blue Line tunnel in the «Lybidska» area is the construction of the Ocean Mall shopping center in violation of construction norms, said architect, activist, and head of the Ukrainian Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments Anatoliy Frolov in an interview with «Telegraph».
2026: the estimated term for launching full train traffic
«If they want to dig a new tunnel, it will not be in 2025, but most likely in 2026, when they will launch traffic on this section. Because there is a serious problem there. Today, many say that it is Yanukovych’s fault, because during his term they built that section and launched new stations towards the residential area of «Teremky». But there is geology, and in this situation, we need to find the primary cause of why this accident happened,» he said.
Construction norms and boundaries
According to the architect, one of the factors that influenced the condition of the Blue Line tunnel in the «Lybidska» area is the construction of the Ocean Mall shopping center in violation of construction norms. He emphasized that when buildings or structures are constructed, they should not cross the boundaries of «red lines».
«The architect who designed it violated the norms. Even balconies in the city cannot have large dimensions that would exceed the «red lines»,» Frolov explained.
