NATO Establishes New Command to Support Ukrainian Military
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has announced the creation of a new command that will coordinate the supply of weapons and training for Ukrainian military personnel, set to begin operating in September. Stoltenberg made this announcement ahead of the European Political Community summit in the United Kingdom.
«We have agreed to establish a command to provide assistance in security and training for Ukraine. And I am pleased to announce that this command will start its activities in September,» said Jens Stoltenberg.
The new structure, based in Germany, will bring together 700 military personnel under the command of a three-star general. It will offer support and security assistance to Ukraine and coordinate efforts among NATO member countries.
«It is time to defend freedom and democracy, and Ukraine has become the center of these efforts. NATO members are strengthening our support for Ukraine,» added the NATO Secretary General.
ArmyInform agency previously reported on the creation of this new NATO structure for Ukraine. Additionally, the NATO summit in Washington approved the establishment of the NATO Support and Training Assistance Program for Ukraine (NSATU) to enhance coordination in military equipment supply and training.
