Innovations in the Smartphone Industry: Samsung Galaxy S25 Rumors
In the smartphone industry, possible changes in the upcoming flagship model Samsung Galaxy S25, expected in January 2025, are being discussed. According to rumors from South Korea, Samsung may consider using Dimensity chips from MediaTek along with the traditional Qualcomm Snapdragon and Samsung Exynos processors.
This initiative is reportedly prompted by the increasing cost of the new generations of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processors and manufacturing issues with Samsung’s Exynos 2500. For example, the cost of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 has risen to $260 per unit, which could have a negative impact on Samsung’s margins.
It is also worth noting that Samsung has faced manufacturing difficulties with Exynos 2500, which currently only achieves a yield of 40%, whereas for mass production, a minimum of 60% yield is usually required. Taking these circumstances into account, MediaTek becomes an attractive option due to its more affordable prices and promising features, such as rumors about the upcoming Dimensity 9400 chip on the 3nm N3E process.
However, at the moment, this is only speculative information, and Samsung’s final decision regarding the processor for the Galaxy S25 has not been made yet. Including MediaTek could be a strategic move to put pressure on Qualcomm to get a more competitive offer.
Stay tuned for further updates on the Galaxy S25 processor, as the situation is still developing and requires further investigation.
