Brothers from Kvasovo Village Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison
After a public accusation by the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor’s Office, two brothers from the village of Kvasovo in Berehiv district have been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
The criminals are charged with attempted murder of a fellow villager, his illegal detention, and other crimes committed as part of a conspiracy. One of the brothers is also accused of causing minor bodily harm to the victim’s wife.
The incident occurred in early July 2022 in Berehiv district, when the victim was relaxing with his family near the Borzhava river. The accused arrived at the scene and instigated a conflict, during which they attacked using a wooden stick and inflicting numerous blows.
The attackers then took the unconscious victim in an unknown direction, but their plans were thwarted by a car accident when their vehicle veered off the road.
As a result of the conflict, the victim sustained serious injuries, including an open skull fracture and fractures. The brothers are required to compensate him with over half a million hryvnias for medical expenses and moral damage, as well as an additional 80 thousand for legal fees.
