A Woman from Sloviansk Sentenced to 11 Years for Espionage
A woman from Sloviansk was sentenced to 11 years in prison for espionage in favor of the enemy, according to the Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office.
The court found that in December 2023, the woman provided military information to her subscribers on a pro-Russian Telegram channel, including Russian military personnel. She distributed information about the location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the city.
In particular, she provided information about the whereabouts of personnel and equipment of Ukrainian military forces, as well as the locations of employees of the National Guard and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
The convicted woman detailed the results of her observations of military vehicles, trucks, and armored personnel carriers, and added a map of the area with hand-made markings to her reports.
During the court hearings, the woman repeatedly changed her testimony and tried to mislead the court. The court supported the prosecution’s well-founded position and issued a guilty verdict.
Prosecutors of the Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office proved in court the guilt of the citizen in the unauthorized dissemination of information about the location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (part 3 of article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
