International Museum Day Celebration in Lviv
On the occasion of the International Museum Day, celebrated on May 18, 25 Lviv museums have developed a special extended program from May 17 to 19. The theme for this year, defined by the International Council of Museums ICOM, is «Museums: Education and Research,» as reported by the Lviv City Council Tourism Department.
During these three days, Lviv museums will open their doors to all visitors, offering a variety of excursions, lectures, workshops, and interactive events for both adults and children.
Program Highlights:
- «Night at the Museum» — evening tours about nocturnal animals at the Zoological Museum of Ivan Franko Lviv National University
- Musical lesson «Painting Pictures with Sounds» at the Music-Memorial Museum of Solomiya Krushelnytska
- Exhibition «MuMification» in the basement of the Museum of the City
- Workshop «Secret Laboratory» at the Secret Pharmacy
- Quest «In the Veeery Black Kamianytsia» at the Lviv Historical Museum
- Interactive tour «Museum under the Microscope, or How Objects Become Exhibits» at the Franko’s House
In addition to Lviv, events will also be taking place at museums outside the city.
