The Mayor of Odessa and City Council Members to Receive Increased Salaries
The Mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, his deputies, and the city council secretary are set to receive a significant increase in salary, following a new decision adopted at the city council session.
During the recent session on April 24, a draft decision regarding the payment regulation of the Odessa city mayor, his deputies, and the city council secretary was approved.
According to the newly adopted document, Mayor Trukhanov will receive a 50% surcharge for high achievements and important work, as well as monthly bonuses equivalent to 120% of the salary and annual material assistance for recuperation equal to a monthly salary.
Furthermore, it was agreed that the mayor would award his deputies and the council secretary with no more than 150% of the official salary, including additional surcharges and bonuses for exceptional performance.
The draft decision faced no objections from council members and was supported by 45 votes in favor. Mayor Trukhanov and council secretary Igor Koval abstained from voting due to a possible conflict of interest.
It should be noted that Mayor Trukhanov’s earnings in 2023 amounted to 293 thousand hryvnias, which is considered one of the lowest salaries among mayors of major cities in Ukraine.
