Number of minibuses for people with disabilities sharply reduced in Odessa: issues with market reform

Decrease in Number of Minibuses for People with Disabilities in Odessa

Over the past few months, the number of specially equipped minibuses for transporting people with disabilities, including those using wheelchairs, has decreased by half in Odessa.

According to city council deputy Oleksiy Asaulenko, currently only 4-5 such minibuses are operating in the city.

«At the last meeting with the transport department and carriers, we discussed the issue of increasing the number of specialized transport. Unfortunately, the situation has not improved. The number of adapted buses has actually halved, which contradicts the contract stating that there should be at least one bus for people with disabilities on each route,» the deputy noted.

Asaulenko emphasized the urgent need to find a solution to this problem, as the lack of appropriate transportation violates the rights of people with disabilities.
