Revealed corruption scheme in the State Customs Service: Suspect Accused

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau has uncovered a complex scheme of trading positions within the State Customs Service.

Key Role in Influence Attempts

According to the investigation, Nazar Sheptytsky, the stepson of the director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, Oleksandr Ruvin, played a key role in attempts to influence the appointment of top positions in customs offices in exchange for high bribes.

Control and Financing

The investigation revealed that Sheptytsky, together with his accomplice Oleg Gataliak, planned to finance and control appointments through intermediaries, involving multimillion-dollar sums. One example is the case of Yuri Gerasimov’s appointment as the head of the Chernivtsi customs office, which occurred after a bribe was given.

Suspicion of Incitement to Bribery

Currently, NABU has informed Sheptytsky of suspicion under Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — incitement to bribery.
