Election for president started in Mauritania on Saturday
The current president Mohamed Ould Ghazouani is competing with six candidates. According to forecasts, Ghazouani intends to be re-elected thanks to the support of the ruling party. Among his opponents are activist Biram Dah Abeid, lawyer Id Mohameden M’bareck, economist Mohamed Lemine El-Mourtaji El-Wafi, and Islamist Hamadi Sidi El-Mokhtar from the «Tewassoul» party.
